Surface Defense Solutions exists because a better film was needed — and nobody was offering it at a price that made sense for working installers. So we went and got it ourselves.

2019.
Surface Defense Solutions started as a supply problem, not a business idea. In 2019, Eric was running Envious Detailing — one of Orange County's most respected PPF and detailing studios — and growing frustrated with the films available from mainstream distributors.
The options were either overpriced, inconsistent, or visually inferior. Orange peel texture was heavier than it needed to be. Margins were getting squeezed. The films that looked best were the ones nobody could afford to stock.
So Eric started importing directly. The result was a film that installed cleaner, looked better, and cost less per roll than what the distributors were selling. Envious Detailing started running these films exclusively — and the results spoke for themselves.
Now, those same films are available to other shop owners across the country. SDS is how Envious gets its film. It can be how you get yours.
Eric launches Envious Detailing in Orange County, CA. The shop quickly builds a strong local reputation for quality PPF installs and premium detailing.
Frustrated with the quality and margin on distributor films, Eric begins direct importing. Testing dozens of suppliers to find a product that matches Envious Detailing's standards.
After years of testing, SDS locks in its film lineup — less texture, higher gloss, consistent batches. Envious Detailing switches completely and the install quality improves noticeably.
SDS opens to the trade. The same film Envious installs every day is now available to other PPF shops and installers who want a better product at a better price.
SDS dealers are now operating across the country. The network continues to grow — one shop at a time.

Every decision we make starts with the question: does this make the installer's job easier or more profitable? If not, we don't do it.
We don't oversell. If the film does something, we'll tell you. If it doesn't, we'll tell you that too. Working shops need straight answers, not marketing copy.
Everything SDS sells goes on Envious Detailing client cars first. We're not a middleman. We're a shop that also supplies — and we only supply what we'd install.
